Generous Giving

At the heart of the Christian faith is a God who gives generously. Everything we have is a gift from God, and one of the ways we respond to that generosity is through our own giving. Regular giving is an act of worship, thanksgiving, and commitment to the life of Christ’s Church. It enables us to share the good news of Jesus, care for one another, serve our communities, and maintain our churches for future generations.

The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) offers a simple, secure, and convenient way to support the ministry and mission of our churches through regular giving by Direct Debit. The scheme is administered on behalf of the Church of England and makes giving straightforward for donors while reducing administration for local volunteers.

Why give through the Parish Giving Scheme?

  • Your gift supports your local church faithfully and regularly.
  • Every donation is ringfenced for your own parish and cannot be used elsewhere unless you specifically request otherwise.
  • Gift Aid, where applicable, is reclaimed automatically and passed directly to your parish.
  • Direct Debit provides a reliable source of income, helping churches plan confidently for ministry and mission.
  • You remain in full control and can amend or cancel your giving at any time.
  • You may choose to increase your gift annually in line with inflation, though this is entirely optional.

Supporting your parish

Our churches depend almost entirely on the generosity of those who worship here and value the presence of the Church in our villages. Regular giving helps meet the costs of ministry, parish share, church maintenance, children’s and community work, worship resources, and pastoral care.

When you give through the Parish Giving Scheme, your offering stays with your parish. Whether you worship in Glinton, Peakirk, Northborough, Etton, or Maxey, your gift is received on behalf of that parish and is protected for its ministry and mission.

A prayerful response

St Paul writes:

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7

Giving is not merely about meeting costs; it is a practical expression of our faith, gratitude, and participation in God’s work. Through the gifts of many people, offered faithfully and prayerfully, our churches can continue to be places of worship, welcome, service, and hope.
